ASSIGNMENT -  Challenges: Climate Change/Unpaid Work

What should I be able to do?
  1. Use 20 vocabulary words related to climate change or Unpaid Work (nouns, verbs, adjectives...) in both written and spoken English. Try to use ones that are somewhat or entirely new to you.
  2. Use the vocabulary (words), in both writing and speech, in their correct grammatical forms  (if word is a noun, use as a noun, if it's an adverb - use as an adverb...)
  3. Be able to talk about "Global climate/energy use and needs" or "Unpaid Work".

How should I do this?
  1. HOMEWORK: Read It's Getting Hot in Here (CLIO) and the National Geographic article on the  Effects of Global Warming (CLIO) page.
  2. HOMEWORK: Read How Society Pays When Women's Work is Unpaid (New York Times) 
  3. CLASS: Create Power Point/Libre Office/Prezi Presentation for 20 words in your group of 3/4 students. For each word, find a picture on the internet - Google images - and place the word, in large font and with or without animation, on a slide. Then, write a sentence using the word somewhere on the slide. *** Be able to describe the slide in an oral presentation (what's happening) and explain the connection the slide and the vocabulary word *** 
  4. CLASS: Follow the WRITING directions for the article(s) that you have read. See link.

How have I done? You will have completed the assignment if you have: 
  1. ...completed all 20 flash cards
  2. ...written all sentences
  3. ...discussed your challenges in group
  4. ...shared/discussed with the class
